Dermal fillers are clear gels which are used to refill creases in the skin and replace lost volume in the face, mainly, but also in other areas. As we get older the connections between the skin and the underlying tissues begin to weaken and the facial skin can begin to lose tautness.
Dermal fillers are made from a substance called hyaluronic acid which is a naturally occurring substance in the human body. We lose this as we get older and this causes a loss of support and hydration for the skin.
Very small amounts of gel are used to fill and restore the lost volume. The substance is not permanent and the effect may slowly fade over a period of 6-12 months. It is absorbed by the body and the skin can be retreated at a later stage.
The cost of these treatments depend on the amount of filler used, which depends on the area and the amount of treatment required.
